  • Google Health - Manage Your Personal Medical Records

    May 22, 2008

google_healthGoogle recently launched personal health information portal Google Health,
allows users to store their medical information, and for disease symptoms and other drug related information.

Google Health is a major scheme to highlight the current fragmented medical records archive methods.

    Google Health Benefits

If you want to track your prescription drugs over the years, there had been the attendance records and have received all the medical testing, Google Health is a good place to record such information. It is particularly worth mentioning that when you add the drugs to your profile, there will be a warning symbol to remind you the potential drug interactions, including interactions among drugs, diseases, and allergies.

Of course, few people will retain all of their medical records, also did not have the time or skills to correct the information and input to their own folder one by one. Google Health concept is to allow you access to health care providers — doctors, pharmacies, medical testing — give you the information. Google with a number of clinics, pharmacies and medical centres established a cooperative relationship, but on the current terms, your family physician may not yet be included in this system.

Once you have introduced your data, you can add arbitrary headnote and comments (but not amended). When you see another doctor, or transferred to another hospital, you will be able to transfer your complete online records to them, you also save money and time (save the cost of repeated testing), and may even save your own life (if any information you have the symptoms, allergies, etc.). This is for your medical records should be thought of, but the portability of medical information has been very poor, and Google Health is trying to solve this problem.

But every advantage has its disadvantage, in a nutshell, the Secret Worry of Google Health is privacy. Marissa Mayer(the vice president of Google) said, health information stored in the new, impregnable server, but visit Google Health is the standard Gmail/Google login, many users use the password for a long time, or use some simple, very weak password. The user’s security is the weakest link, and the service can search a number of anonymous users data.

Continental DC using a 24-volt motor driver, the output power of Motor only 0.37 kilowatts, Torque 7 Nm, but such a power is sufficient to allow it to achieve the speed of 64 km per hour.

Carbonation and the entire fiber structure, including from the 16-inch wheels to a skeleton of the body, can be very good to ensure that the Electric Car weighs just 120 kg. Bentley signs affixed to the Chrome grille and the senior Italian leather decoration prove that the car’s origin.

With a positively gorgeous carbon fiber composite body riding on a four-wheel single-wishbone fixed suspension and 1 x 16-inch Michelin low-rolling-resistance tires, the Continental DC (as in Direct Current) moves under the power of a 24-volt electric motor (from a motorized wheelchair, in fact) producing 0.5 horsepower and 5.1 pound-feet of torque and juiced by a pair of 12-volt batteries.

Do not think that this is a new model by Bentley Motors research and development, in fact the model of the design and mechanical structure only by ten young apprentices at Bentley completed, the group has indicated that they will participate in another race in October this year held in Goodwood, then we will wait and see their excellent work.

From here, the littlest Bentley and the Greenpower Team is set to compete in the upcoming Formula 24+ season, which consists of eight 90-minute endurance races, the last one at Goodwood. The series is sort of an IROC for EVs, requiring all competing cars to use identical 24-volt electric motors powered by two 12-volt batteries. Racers must be between the ages of 16 and 24.

    Microsoft Abandoning Yahoo Acquisition

    May 5, 2008

Microsoft and Yahoo! could not agree on an acquisition price. Microsoft Chief Executive Steve Ballmer and Senior Vice President Kevin Johnson met Yahoo! co-founders Jerry Yang and David Filo in Seattle on Saturday to negotiate. Ballmer raised Microsoft’s offer to $33 a share but Yang, Yahoo!’s chief executive wanted $37. After the meeting, Ballmer sent a letter to Yang stating Microsoft’s withdrawal and adding that “a deal is not to be.”

Microsoft backed out of the merger plan not because it cannot afford the asking price of $37 but because Yahoo’s recent partnership with Google made things more complicated.

Below is the text of the letter from Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer to Yahoo! CEO Jerry Yang  explains the reason behind the withdrawal:

We regard with particular concern your apparent planning to respond to a “hostile” bid by pursuing a new arrangement that would involve or lead to the outsourcing to Google of key paid Internet search terms offered by Yahoo! today. In our view, such an arrangement with the dominant search provider would make an acquisition of Yahoo! undesirable to us for a number of reasons:

    • First, it would fundamentally undermine Yahoo!’s own strategy and long-term viability by encouraging advertisers to use Google as opposed to your Panama paid search system. This would also fragment your search advertising and display advertising strategies and the ecosystem surrounding them. This would undermine the reliance on your display advertising business to fuel future growth.

    • Given this, it would impair Yahoo’s ability to retain the talented engineers working on advertising systems that are important to our interest in a combination of our companies.

    • In addition, it would raise a host of regulatory and legal problems that no acquirer, including Microsoft, would want to inherit. Among other things, this would consolidate market share with the already-dominant paid search provider in a manner that would reduce competition and choice in the marketplace.

    • This would also effectively enable Google to set the prices for key search terms on both their and your search platforms and, in the process, raise prices charged to advertisers on Yahoo. In addition to whatever resulting legal problems, this seems unwise from a business perspective unless in fact one simply wishes to use this as a vehicle to exit the paid search business in favor of Google.

    • It could foreclose any chance of a combination with any other search provider that is not already relying on Google’s search services.

But if Yahoo!’s stock tumbles, industry observers say the acquisition door could open again, perhaps later this year. Microsoft will “watch what happens to Yahoo! and wait for Yahoo! to falter,” says Edward Deibert, a director at law firm Howard Rice Nemerovski Canady Falk & Rabkin. “If Yahoo! is unable to deliver, Microsoft could take another stab at a [lower] price.”

Microsoft may make a comeback, then Yahoo to Microsoft’s acquisition is more difficult to resist.
